Areas I’m strong in:

I feel the strongest in the video area of Multimedia. I have been doing video projects and learning about video since my sophomore year in high school, so I feel that I have really learned a lot in that area. I have done work mostly doing video at a summer camp and was one of the leaders of my team. My boss trusted me to get extra projects done, further confirming my strengths as a videographer.

I also feel strong in writing. I have always enjoyed creative writing from a young age and was always writing. I also worked on the school newspaper all four years in high school and got good practice with print publications. Having learned a lot of journalistic writing early on, I’ve felt that all of my classes have enhanced that skill of mine and made me stronger.

Areas I want to grow in:

I would especially like to get better at photography. At my job at the summer camp I got assigned to do the photos for one week. I quickly realized I knew very little about photography. I had an eye for the shot, but photos are much more complicated than I realized, especially with lots of movement and lots of people. Choosing a lens, getting the shutter speed and ISO numbers so that you can actually see the photo, and capturing just the right moment is all really tricky. I would love to be better at this.

I would also like to continue learning about the web. Web design and coding is really interesting to me. I like the more technical side of things and knowing the details that most people think are boring. The style and making things pretty is fun, but I often push that back and don’t worry about it as much as making sure the structure and foundation is good.
