Corona kindness and the Media’s Response

3/25/2020 – Inspired Strategies Agency

For this assignment I focused on the article from CNN titled Global coronavirus crisis inspires creativity and kindness. The article lists many ways that communities are coming together to have each other’s backs in this pandemic. With the world kind of at a halt, there is a lot of bad news going around. There’s a lot of fear and pain and worry. Truthfully, none of us know what to expect. This article mentioned the medical professionals who are hard at work setting up makeshift facilities for the multitude of cases that need treatment. It mentioned grocery stores setting up “senior’s only” hours so that everyone is able to get what they need. It mentioned the responses of TV Personalities and shows being done from home and musicians performing personal concerts through live-streams.

In a time such as this, the news is not a pretty thing to look at. That being said, people are coming together to support each other. Now more than ever, video and media are so important. Families are coming together over lip-syncing video challenges. Friends are able to connect and maintain community through video. Youtubers and entertainers are a big part of many’s quarentine experience.

Videography is art. We are a part of this motion. As creators, no matter what field or capacity we use it in, we can be a part of finding the small joys during moments when the world seems so dark. Media is a key component of these times.

One of the main reasons I love videography is because it captures the joy of life. Each camera shot, each angle, lighting, composition, each choice that we make in putting together a new creation has meaning. Our choices are based off of the specific look, mood, or feeling we want to give off. We create things to draw out emotion. Learning persuasion and how to appeal to people is important to us for these reasons.

During this time, we have the space to be creative and to really experiment with what we can do. Our opportunities have opened up. People need that little piece of joy, and we can give that to them. Our skills can be utilized now more than ever. Let’s get to it.
